The Creeper Trail
trestle crosses South Holston Lake at the confluence of two rivers,
the North Fork and the South Fork of the Holston.

Although it is recommended that horses should be walked across bridges
and trestles, this doesn't always happen.

This 1965 photo
shows the Creeper crossing the lake on its way to West Jefferson,
NC.

September 2, 2007, looking down from the trestle at the junction of
the South Fork (right) and Middle Fork (left),
the headwaters of South Holston Lake. On this date the water level
of the lake was 21 feet below normal.
